Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 3 – Stardust Crusaders
Release Date: 2nd May 2017
Author: Hirohiko Araki
With the last Jojonium setting the template for the rest of Part 3 and the series as we know it, it’s time to forget about those days of Jonathon and prime Joseph Joestar. It’s time to instead embrace the bizarre that only the monster of the week format can provide.
Jojonium Volume 3 of Part 3 brings us three new fights as Jotaro and the gang head to Egypt to put a stop to Dio, thus saving the world and his dear mother. Progression is slow, which makes it a blessing that the series is being re-released in these chunky hardback tomes. Imagine how painful it was to read single volumes which might only cover one whole fight? And don’t even think about what readers had to deal with back in the 90’s when it was released week by week. Jojo is best enjoyed in heavy doses, a hard drug indeed.
In Volume 3 we do have some actual character development and plot progression which isn’t always a guaranteed thing, all thanks to Polnareff coming face to face with the man with two right hands. This provides growth, it provides tension, there are even a few burning twists that show just how fragile a hero actually is in the world of Jojo. Always check when admiring yourself in a mirror, just to be sure.
Otherwise it’s business as usual with talking killer growths and transforming cars creating annoyance for our heroes. With the Monster of the Week format its easier to digest such things.
