Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 3 – Stardust Crusaders
Release Date: 24th August 2017
Author: Hirohiko Araki
It was foggy the other day. There was love in the air not long after. And today, well, there is a bright burning sun in the sky. Yes, it’s everything you should expect from a new volume of JoJo.
Another three fights are contained within this volume, as Jotaro and the gang face off against more Stand users. One of the more significant villains often seen in the shadows as Dio does his magnificent poses is present, and old hag Enyaba gives Polnareff a few toilet related memories he won’t forget. It plays with graphic violence and comic slapstick to bring about the sort of horror humour the genre is all about, and whilst the importance of Enyaba diminishes because of her early exit, it’s fun to see an established character face our heroes, because, well, there is still a while till Dio.
Fight two is a personal favourite, not because of the tiny Stand which crawls into bodies to sync with them, but for the fact that the villain tries his luck with Jotaro, using him to do petty humiliating tasks due to his grandfather’s predicament, with us, the reader, knowing full well that the conclusion is going to be something. And what better something than a four page Ora Ora?
Then we have the Sun. A brief battle is a rarity, so savour these two chapters which pack pointless trivia, animal cruelty, and heat induced hysteria. It must have been a relief to read it back during its weekly run against 7 chapter fights…
